I don’t know about you, but I can’t live without coffee. Thankfully there are lots of amazing local roasters at the ready with the best coffee you will find anywhere. I know, I know, you might be committed to Starbucks, but believe me, once you go local, you’ll never go back. And, even if you prefer coffee shops or stands, a lot of local options still have you covered. No excuses!

Still not convinced? How about this … drinking local is an awesome way to incorporate something local into your daily life. It’s easy to buy, it tastes good, and it keeps you caffeinated, what could be better. Not to mention the fact that giving your ongoing support to a local business is better for your community and our county then giving it to a national chain.

To help you with your local coffee pursuits, this months Top Ten list features the ten coffee roasters found within Snohomish County.

# 1 – Original Pilot House Coffees, Monroe

 Monroe Blend

The hands down winner had to be OPHC of Monroe. Their Monroe Blend is the official coffee of SnoCo Gal at home, and the only coffee I will drink black. My favorite blends are their dark roasts, hence it being the only dark roast found on our list. They lean towards the heavy and strong side, making them a manly coffee, or one just right for those who need coffee as much as they need air.

OPHC’s roasts are always perfectly balanced and packed with an array of beans from around the world. hey are not to sweet or bitter, not to nutty, not too much anything. You will never find one flavor standing out over another in their blends, yet each blend is distinct and, did I mention, really REALLY good. Jeff Rousey, the man behind the coffee, is truly a roast master!

If you are interested in finding out more about Jeff and his coffee, check out our story, Road to Redemption, on our website. You can get your own beans and coffee at their coffee shop at 408 W Main St in Monroe, as well as online at www.ophc.biz.

 The Tea’s …

So … I have to start off by saying, I’m not really much of a tea person. I love a good chai tea latte, and mint tea is a staple of my self care when I’m feeling sick or need relax, but other than that, I don’t dabble much. That’s something I’m working on though, and this list was an awesome opportunity to do that.

# 1 – Tea With Your Dragon, Stanwood

1. Harvest Chai: Black Tea, Apple, Ginger, Pepper, Cinnamon, Clove, Cardamom, Orange Peel, Calendula
2. Spearmint: (Our Fave)

Tea with your dragon has the largest selection of tea, over 100 & labeled well. They also sell other wellness and beauty items! Catch our feature on them HERE.
